Our Safe Space Commitment

Creating a Culture of Safety & Respect

At Gather and Grow, safety is the foundation of everything we do. We know that a nervous system cannot regulate if it does not feel safe. To ensure that every client, family member, and staff member feels secure in our space, we hold firm boundaries regarding safety and respect.

This is not just a policy; it is a commitment to maintaining an environment where neurodivergent individuals can be their authentic selves without fear of harm or judgment.

Community Standards

To maintain this environment, we ask our entire community to uphold the following standards:

1. A Culture of Inclusion (Anti-Discrimination)

We are committed to Celebrating Differences and honoring the diverse range of human experiences. We do not tolerate discrimination based on:

  • Neurotype or Disability Status

  • Race, Color, or National Origin

  • Gender Identity, Expression, or Sexual Orientation

  • Religion or Age

Our Commitment: We use preferred pronouns, we respect cultural differences, and we honor the unique ways our clients communicate and process the world.

2. Physical Safety (Anti-Violence)

Therapy requires physical safety. Therefore, we maintain a Zero Tolerance boundary regarding violence. This includes:

  • Physical aggression or injury to others.

  • Threatening remarks or intimidation.

  • Intentional destruction of property.

  • Bringing weapons of any kind into our space.

A Note on Dysregulation vs. Violence: We understand that neurodivergent individuals may experience meltdowns or sensory overload. We distinguish between a clinical dysregulation event (which we support) and intentional violence or threats (which violate our safety policy). Our team is trained to discern the difference, but safety will always remain the priority.

3. Emotional Safety (Anti-Harassment)

We are a space of respect. We do not tolerate bullying, harassment, or slurs of any kind.

  • Verbal Harassment: Offensive comments, slurs, or negative stereotyping.

  • Nonverbal Harassment: Displaying symbols or materials that ridicule or show hostility toward any group.

  • Bullying: Repeated mistreatment, intimidation, or humiliation.

Upholding These Boundaries

To protect the well-being of our vulnerable clients and our dedicated staff, Gather and Grow reserves the right to refuse services or end employment for anyone who violates these safety standards.

We prioritize Well-Being Over Conformity, but we also prioritize the safety of our community above all else.

If you witness or experience a violation of this policy, please report it to a member of our leadership team immediately. We will investigate and take action to restore safety.
