Delaney McIntyre, OTD, OTR/L
Occupational Therapist
The Vibe: I am a late-diagnosed ADHD therapist, dedicated to helping neurodivergent individuals and families better understand their unique neuro-profiles and how to support them. This may look like identifying sensory preferences and needs, teaching tools to support executive functioning and emotional regulation, adapting the environment to decrease the challenge, and generally supporting the social world around us to shift their mindsets around neurodivergence.
What Sessions With Me Look Like: I believe the foundation to success in any session begins with safety, regulation, and connection. That looks like meeting you where you are that day, incorporating your unique interests and motivators, and empowering you to advocate for what you need. I use a collaborative approach, always aiming to acknowledge that my clients know themselves/their children best and I am simply here to be a support and sounding board. Sessions with me may look like play- in the sensory gym, outside at the playground, or on the floor playing boardgames; or it may look more like collaborative problem-solving- talking through a self-care routine, discussing a barrier at school, or focusing on parent coaching to help with carrying over strategies at home. It all depends on the personalized goals we create together and your unique insight into what feels right!
Professional Expertise: I hold a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with minors in Cognitive Science and Health Promotions from Michigan State University. From there, I attended Washington University in St. Louis to earn my doctorate of Occupational Therapy. I completed my doctoral capstone working to develop a group empowerment program for individuals with tics and Tourette Syndrome and their families. I have been working with neurodivergent children and teens across different settings since I began practicing, including pediatric home health, school-based OT, and outpatient services.
Personal Neuro-Spark: I love getting outside, whether that looks like walks with my dog around our neighborhood, getting into mountains with my partner to hike and ski, or playing rec soccer. When I’m at home, you can probably find me rewatching a sitcom, listening to music or the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast, cooking a new meal with my partner, or planning our next travel adventure.
