As the weather starts to cool down and outdoor play becomes less predictable, families may find themselves spending more time indoors. This transition can sometimes mean that there are fewer opportunities for movement, sensory exploration and playful activities throughout the day.

Sensory Bingo is a simple, flexible way to turn those indoor moments into opportunities for movement, regulation, exploration and connection while also strengthening their interoceptive awareness.

Exploring Sensory Information Through Play

Children experience and respond to sensory information in different ways. Everyday experiences such as movement, touch, sounds, smells, and changes in body position can provide valuable opportunities for children to learn about their environment and their own bodies.

How to Use Sensory Bingo

Choose an activity from the bingo board and try it together. You can work toward completing a row or the entire board, depending on what works best for your child.

The goal is to complete all items on the bingo board; however, one of the most important parts to any sensory avtivity is finding the "just right challenge." This means modifying an activity so that it is challenging enough to encourage exploration and skill development without it becoming overwhelming or dysregulating.

This is a great opportunity to have fun together while helping everyone feel regulated!

If you are looking for additional support, or your child seems to struggle being regulated we are here to help. Our Occupational Therapy Team in Broomfield, CO. specializes in this care.

This resource is provided for educational purposes and is not a substitute for an individualized occupational therapy evaluation, treatment or medical advice. Children respond to sensory experiences differently. Activities should be adapted to your child's abilities and stopped or modified if they cause distress, discomfort, or safety concerns.
