Service Description
A comprehensive 3-session neuro-affirming workshop series for parents on scaffolding independence & navigating support needs for college. (Ticket Price includes a 3 Part Workshop: June 10, June 24, July 8, 2026 from 6-7:30pm) A Parent’s Guide to the Neurodivergent Student College Transition The "High School Cliff" is real—but it doesn't have to be a drop-off. Many students are accepted into college with strong academics but struggle shortly after arrival. This isn’t because they aren’t capable—it’s because college requires a level of independent executive functioning, self-advocacy, and daily living skills that are rarely explicitly taught before high school graduation. The Series Curriculum: Workshop 1: Is My Neurodivergent Teen Ready for College? Executive Functioning & Independence: Assessing current skill levels for life away from home. Navigating the Timeline: Recognizing burnout warning signs and setting realistic expectations. Alternative Paths: When to consider gap years or reduced course loads. Self-Advocacy Readiness: Identifying strengths and anticipating support needs. Workshop 2: Accommodations, Executive Functioning & Academic Success Disability Services: Navigating the major differences between High School (IEP/504) and College accommodations. Planning Systems: Implementing time management, routines, and technology supports. Communication: How to effectively communicate with professors and faculty. Workshop 3: Dorm Life, Sensory Supports & Surviving the First Semester The Sensory Environment: Creating a sensory-friendly dorm setup and roommate considerations. Daily Living: Meal planning, transition routines, and maintaining regulation. The Safety Net: Establishing clear guidelines for when parents should step in. Meet Your Facilitator: Clarissa Stratton Clarissa is the owner of Gather & Grow Therapy and a dedicated advocate for the neurodivergent community. As a neurodivergent parent herself, she brings a unique blend of professional expertise and lived experience to this series. Each session concludes with a dedicated Q&A portion to address the specific "bridge-building" needs of your family.
