How we work

What Makes Neuroaffirming Coaching Different?

ogether, we focus on real-life challenges such as emotional regulation, school struggles, sensory needs, executive functioning, shutdowns and meltdowns, and family communication. You’ll leave with strategies that are realistic, flexible, and tailored to your child—not generic parenting advice.

This work is collaborative and compassionate. We don’t believe there is one “right” way to parent. Instead, we help you build confidence, reduce power struggles, and create a home environment where your child feels understood, supported, and safe to be themselves.

Why Gather and Grow?

Our approach is different.

Finding a coach who truly understands autism and ADHD can make all the difference.

At Gather & Grow, neurodiversity-affirming care isn't a trend—it's the foundation of everything we do. Our coaching is informed by years of experience supporting autistic and ADHD individuals across occupational therapy, speech therapy, mental health, and executive functioning. That means we understand the many ways autism and ADHD show up in daily life, beyond stereotypes or checklists.

We know that no two people are alike. That's why we take the time to understand your strengths, your goals, your sensory needs, your communication style, and the supports that work best for you. Together, we'll create practical strategies that fit your life—not someone else's idea of what success should look like.

Whether you're navigating work, college, relationships, independent living, or simply trying to make everyday life feel more manageable, you'll have a knowledgeable partner who believes in your abilities and is committed to helping you succeed.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I need a diagnosis for coaching?

No, you do not need a formal diagnosis to participate in coaching.  Many of our clients are autistic or ADHD—some with formal diagnoses, some self-identified, and others who are still exploring whether neurodivergence fits their experience. What matters most is not a label, but whether you’re looking for support with things like executive functioning, overwhelm, daily routines, relationships, or navigating life in a way that feels more manageable.  Our coaching is designed to be accessible, affirming, and grounded in real-life support—not gatekeeping.

How Is coaching different than therapy?

Coaching is focused on present-day goals and practical change. While therapy often explores emotional healing, mental health concerns, and past experiences, coaching is more action-oriented and centered on building skills for daily life.

In coaching, we work together to identify what’s getting in your way and develop strategies that support executive functioning, routines, relationships, work, school, and independent living. The focus is on creating systems that fit your brain and help you move toward the life you want.  Coaching is not a replacement for therapy or medical care. Many people find that coaching works well alongside therapy, offering structured, practical support between sessions or during periods when they’re looking for more skills-based guidance.

Is Coaching Virtual?

Coaching is available both virtually and in-person.  Many clients choose virtual sessions for convenience and accessibility, especially if they prefer to meet from a familiar, low-stimulation environment. Others prefer in-person sessions for a more direct, grounded connection. We’ll work with you to decide what format best supports your needs, comfort, and location.

Our goal is to make coaching as accessible and sustainable as possible, whichever format you choose.

How long do people work with a coach?

The length of coaching varies from person to person, depending on your goals and what you’re working on.

Some people come for short-term support to focus on a specific challenge—like building routines, starting a new job or semester, or getting through a period of burnout. Others choose longer-term coaching for ongoing support with executive functioning, life transitions, or maintaining structure and accountability over time.  We typically begin by checking in regularly on progress and goals, and you can continue as long as coaching feels helpful and aligned with your needs. There’s no required timeline or set commitment—you decide what pace works best for you.

Does coaching take insurance?

Coaching is a private pay (cash pay) service and is not billed through insurance.  This allows us to keep coaching flexible, individualized, and focused on practical, real-world support without the limitations, restrictions, or required diagnoses that often come with insurance-based services.  If you have questions about fees or payment options, we’re happy to walk you through what to expect before getting started.
